ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT ?
Organizational structure is important for knowing to whom each employee reports.
To divide the responsibility and work in an organization.
For proper coordination and supervision .
For laying out the official reporting relationships that govern the workflow of the company.
Plants, every plant has a unique structure whether you take mango tree or a catch weed. The same is the case with organizations they follow structures. Every organization has a unique one. In present times everything is moving so fast, organizations need to change their strategy that’s why they have a flexible structure.
In Dr Mandi‘s class we are taught like that, he gave us a task to bring a different natural structure from the college garden. Finally a structure was selected which has a main stem with no leaves just green branches and then we related this. How there is a main driving force and because of this thing it works properly.
Without having an organizing structure company cannot take a step forward we can take an example of AMUL without the guidance of Dr. Verghese Kurien the path to success for AMUL may not be the same. Verghese Kurien is just an illustration the key people from his company plays an equal important role.
Behind the success of a company there is a more successful organizational structure. And talking about the failures lack of a proper guidance is the main reason for poor performance of a company.
THREE TYPES ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE.
FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURE
The structure is divided on the basis of the functions they perform in an organization. For example, functional divisions of an organization tend to
perform a specialized set of tasks, for instance the engineering
department would be staffed only with software engineers.
This leads to
operational efficiencies within that group and increases the productivity. However it could also lead
to a lack of communication between the functional groups within an
organization, making the organization slow and inflexible.
DIVISIONAL STRUCTURE
The division of the structure is done on the basis of products , customers or geographical area.
Each division within a divisional structure contains all the necessary
resources and functions within it. Divisions can be categorized from
different points of view according to the need of an organization.
MATRIX STRUCTURE
The division of structure, the employees take participation in both product and functional activities in an organization. This lead to proper flow of communication throughout the organization and develops the friendly bond among the employees which in turns help in increasing the productivity of an organization.
An example would be a company that produces two products, "product a"
and "product b".
Using the matrix structure, this company would organize
functions within the company as follows:
"product a" sales department,
"product a" customer service department, "product a" accounting,
"product b" sales department, "product b" customer service department, "product b" accounting department.
